Spirit animal
The Moth
The Lover of the Light
Essence
The Moth flies toward the light even knowing the light may burn it. This is not madness; it is faith. A creature of the night, unassuming, dusted in grey and silver, it seeks whatever shines in the darkness with a constancy that breaks the heart. It is the butterfly's nocturnal sister: less visible, and deeper.
The oracle's message
« You seek the light in the dark, even at the risk of being burned. The Moth reminds you that the moon is a light too, and it does not burn. »

Mantra« I fly toward the light that does not burn me. »

The Moth — across cultures
The moth and the candle: the soul that burns itself away in divine love in order to become one with it.
Messenger of souls, the white moth announces a visitor from the Otherworld.
Emblem of transformation through the night, the butterfly's dark twin.
In love
You love by flying straight toward what shines, without calculation, with a faith that frightens the cautious. You need a light that does not burn, a presence as steady as the moon, someone who lets you circle them without ever consuming you. What you fear is waking with singed wings beside a flame that never knew it was burning.
At work
You work at night, at the margins, carried by a fascination others do not always understand: a cause, a body of work, an idea glimmering far off. You shine in vocations, in art, in obsessive research, in caring for those the daylight ignores. What drains you is the loud bright day, the harsh light of ordinary ambitions, anything not worth loving to the point of losing yourself.
Taming its shadow
Your shadow is attraction to what can destroy you: you mistake the burn for proof of love. Before throwing yourself at a flame, ask whether it lights you or consumes you, and give yourself a whole night to answer. The Moth also navigates by the moon: learn to recognize the lights that guide you without devouring you.
When it calls you
The Moth calls you when a fascination takes hold again and you already feel the heat, when a white moth lands on your window after nightfall, when someone you have lost seems to signal from the Other World. It appears in the moments when your vulnerability is the strongest thing you have. It asks you to keep your faith but to choose your lights.
A ritual
On a cloudless night, go out without a lamp and walk ten minutes guided by moonlight alone, then write down what you were searching for in the dark.
